Our Mission and Commitment to Safety
At SOAR, we are more than a nonprofit—we are a community dedicated to creating a safer, more inclusive world for individuals with developmental, physical, mental, and neurological disabilities. Based in Northridge, CA, our mission is to ensure that every individual has the tools, resources, and support they need to thrive across all stages of life. We believe safety is not a privilege but a right, and our work focuses on bridging gaps, empowering families, and providing resources that last a lifetime.

Our Mission
Our mission is simple yet powerful: to empower individuals with disabilities by addressing safety across the lifespan. Too often, people with developmental and neurological disabilities face higher risks of abuse, neglect, and unsafe environments. While many organizations provide limited or short-term solutions, SOAR was created to meet these challenges head-on with lifelong, individualized, and practical safety supports.
We envision a world where safety is accessible to everyone, regardless of age, ability, or background. From early childhood to elder care, we stand as a partner, advocate, and educator for the families and individuals we serve.
Who We Serve
SOAR is proud to serve a diverse community of individuals and families navigating unique challenges. We work with people of all ages who are living with:
Physical Disabilities such as mobility challenges and chronic pain.
Developmental Disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Down Syndrome, and intellectual disabilities.
Neurological Conditions like Cerebral Palsy, traumatic brain injuries, and Multiple Sclerosis (MS).
Mental Health Conditions such as anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorder.
We also support caregivers, families, and providers who play a vital role in ensuring safety and independence. At SOAR, we know that independence may look different for every individual, and we honor those differences with compassion and respect.
How We’re Different
Unlike organizations that focus on only one area, SOAR is built on the belief that true safety requires a holistic, inclusive, and lifelong approach. Here’s what sets us apart:
Closing Service Gaps: We address overlooked needs such as guardianship planning, foster care transitions, and therapies after age 21.
Bridging Systems: We unite families, schools, healthcare providers, first responders, and communities to create stronger networks of care.
Inclusive Approach: Resources are available in plain language, multiple languages, and accessible formats to serve diverse populations.
Evidence-Based Tools: From practical checklists to teaching protocols, our resources are rooted in proven strategies.
Lifelong Support: Our programs evolve with individuals, ensuring they receive safety resources at every stage of life.
